2) event over _ Peace Circles Training
VOICE-Buffalo and Buffalo Peacemakers are helping to establish a congregation-based Peace Hub Network and Restorative Justice Center with local faith communities and organizations. Congregations are being trained in the ministry of peace circles, which allow for faith communities to: practice restorative justice, build relationships, listen to stories, discern common community concerns, and move towards responsive action.
3) event over _ VOICE-Buffalo's Annual Public Meeting
"Our Community Our Vision" was a resounding success. Each year the number of our supporters attending this event grows. Holy Cross RC Church on 7th Street at Niagara was packed. The energy built quickly as an entire pew of public officials stood and publically declared their determination to reach our goals this year of Restorative Justice, improved Public Transportation, and Education Reform.
4) Winning on the Issues
Two member congregations of VOICE-Buffalo - Stop the Violence Coalition and Back to Basics Ministries - were tired of the violence plaguing their neighborhoods and claiming the lives of their young so they decided to act!
5) Fire of Faith Ignites the Spirit
As an affiliate member of the Gamaliel Foundation's international network of faith-based community organizing efforts, VOICE-Buffalo will be participating in a three year campaign that is designed to bring the fire and passion of the Spirit back to our congregations, our economy and our democracy.
event over _ VOICE-Buffalo and Gamaliel WNY 1st Annual Sustainer Breakfast
You are invited to celebrate the work of Gamaliel WNY (GWNY), as we host our first ever “Sustainer Breakfast” on Thursday, September 26th, 8:00-9:00 AM at the Hotel Lafayette in downtown Buffalo.
6) event over _ Education & Restorative Justice Committee Meeting, Thursday September 19th at 7 PM.
We are building a restorative justice campaign to ensure that our youth and adults are a part of a caring community. We will need resources for training and organizing to create a faith based peace circle initiative that is county wide and impacts the criminal justice system and our schools. We are building a movement of parents that are working within each of their schools to demand respect from the District, the State, and the Federal Government. Please come and work with us on this community-changing campaign when we meet Thursday September 19th from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Holy Angels Church (348 Porter Ave., Buffalo NY, 14201)
